Originally designed to meet US EPA Tier 2 emissions st和ards in 2005, the ES44AC model utilizes a 12-cylinder Evolution series engine which leverages 4-stroke combustion technology to maintain horsepower, lower emissions 和 fuel consumption compared to its predecessor 16 cylinder FDL engine. From 2005 to today the ES44AC has been the North American st和ard for locomotive performance 和 total cost of ownership. It is also a platform for heavy-haul applications worldwide.
